My daughter’s name is Hannah Sofia.  She turned 6 last month.  She is obsessed with all things princess and Sofia the First.  She had a Leopard Princess Party 2 years ago.  She can’t get enough of her princesses!  I’m super excited to share this “Sofia the First” inspired party with you all.  Be ready for an overload of photos! You might want to grab a cup of coffee while reading this post!

Let’s talk about the Castle in our backyard! I love how it turned out.

The girls loved their royal tables!

A beautiful “Princess Hannah Sofia” banner from Charlie Thyme hang on the purple backdrop.  She carries other gorgeous banners!

I purchased flower garlands from JoAnn Fabrics that matched this theme perfectly!

I made carriage centerpieces….I love how they turned out! I’m willing to sell each one for $30.  They are like brand-new.

The lavender table runners are all sparkly! Ready for the next party if you’d like to purchase as well.

Each place setting included a cardstock placemat cut into the shape of a flower, lavender plates, white napkins and handmade princess napkin rings embellished with a princess crown.

I set a plastic high heel with some candy inside.  You can find similar ones at Michaels and Hobby Lobby.

I bought plastic wine cups from The Dollar Tree.  Grape kool-aid was a hit.  Girls even toasted…so cute!

I set up a small drinks station…….

There was this pretty princess wall art hanging right above the drinks station.

Made the flower on top with coffee filters and I spray painted it in lavender…

Wrapped bottle water with scrapbook paper and cut out crowns.

This pretty ribbon garland was hanging on the table as well.  You can find these pretty garlands on Postscripts etsy shop.

Activities included, coloring pages, making a magic wand and decorating crowns.

A fun and pretty vanity was set up for the girls to get their nails done, put on some make up and get some glitter on their hair…..what fun!

Our friends set up the gifts on this table.  I hang a “THANK YOU” banner on the table.  You can get one like this from Niu Designs.

There was a table set up next to it that had all the fun favors for the girls. We gave them princess rings from Gil’s Market, crowns from Party City, castle boxes from Bits of Plaid & Paisley, pretty crown hair clips from The Party Perfect Princess and Sofia the First necklaces from The Little Green Wagon.

Hi! I’m Lora of Craftivity Designs – my friend, Erica, and I love to take a DIY approach when it comes to decorating our homes and celebrating special events. We are so excited Nancy invited us over here to share with you today!

We hosted this Romantic Pink+Burlap Bridal Shower for my {now} sister-in-law. She loves neutral colors and simple elements. For her Bridal Shower, we wanted it to speak to her style, but bring in a little bit of color with a simple soft pink. I just love how it turned out.

If you want to really bring a party together without spending a lot of money — choose a focal point. It’s more cost effective than trying to decorate the whole space. We were dealing with a pretty large room, so this was a great way to achieve a big impact without breaking the bank!

We anchored the focal point with a fabric scrap banner and some large paper lanterns hung in front of the windows. This simple DIY banner let the light peak through for a lovely, romantic effect.

The banner is made up of burlap and floral fabric strips, about 1″ thick each — with some pink ribbon to add just a bit of shimmer. Simply tie each strip around a dowel rod, until you achieve the desired amount of fullness.

All that is needed once the backdrop is in place, is to set the serving table. Think outside of the box (aka a standard vase of flowers) when it comes to a centerpiece. We bought paper mache letters and thrifted a wooden ampersand to lean against a vintage postal scale topped off with some pink carnations.

We also used family heirlooms to set the table including lace doilies and a grandparent’s wedding topper set under a cloche.

The burlap runners are simple decor too, no hem tape or needle and thread, we just cut them to size.

Also, I just must close with a photo of the beautiful Bride (with my sweet little boy) – dressed in a lace shift dress with some simple gold jewelry. After all, her sense of style was the inspiration for this shower!

Have you heard of the Baked Brownie? It is amazing, gooey, and so good that you’ll want to it add to your collection!

Hi, I am Beth!

You can find me over at The First Year Blog where I share recipes. I am so excited to be sharing this easy Baked Brownie recipe with you, it’s my absolute favorite!

Ingredients
1¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp cocoa powder
11 ounces chocolate, coarsely chopped
 (I use chocolate chips)
2 sticks butter, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup packed light brown sugar
5 eggs, at room temperature
2 tsp vanilla extract

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter the sides and bottom of a 9×13-inch glass or light-colored baking pan. Optional: Line the pan with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, salt, and cocoa powder together.

Put the chocolate and butter in a large microwaveable bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals until the chocolate and butter are completely melted.

Whisk in the sugar and brown sugar.

Add 3 eggs to the chocolate mixture and whisk until combined. Add the remaining eggs and whisk until combined. Add the vanilla and stir until combined. Do not overbeat the batter at this stage or your brownies will be cakey.

Sprinkle the flour mixture over the chocolate mixture. Using a rubber spatula (not a whisk), fold the flour mixture into the chocolate until just a bit of the flour mixture is visible.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. I added peanut butter chips to mine this time!

Bake in the center of the oven for 30 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through the baking time, until a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies comes out with a few moist crumbs sticking to it.

Let the brownies cool completely, then lift them out of the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into squares and serve.

Yield 24 brownies from a 9 X 13 inch pan.

I love this Butterfly birthday party!  It is beautiful and on a budget.  Anne from Circus Berry has a great blog where she shares crafts, recipes, printables, parties and more!

In Anne’s words:

“I started thinking about having a girly Butterfly Picnic after strolling through the local Dollar Tree, where I noticed a lot of spring, pink, purple, and butterfly items.  On the spot I decided that I was going to have a Butterfly Party for my daughter and her friend, on the fly and on the cheap.  I thought about tea parties, all things girly, picnics, sunny spring days, butterflies, and flitting around barefoot in the grass…and the more I thought, the more a picnic came to mind. Likewise, when I was out and about, I would find things on a whim that I thought would fit the party (Like the pink egg-carton holding the cake pops and purple and pink picture frames I found at Michael’s after Easter on clearance or in the dollar section).  Then I made a DIY picnic blanket like the one here, made my first foam board backdrop (thank you Dollar Tree for the purple tissue paper garland), and reached out to some fabulous vendors for the cake pops and cupcakes.  I actually did not give either vendor any specific requests except “pink, purple, and butterflies” and I passed along an image of the food labels I made.  Cakepoplove and Rufflecakes came up with the treats on their own!

I was also inspired by this image from an etsy shop.  I even went so far as to (Cricut) cut dozens of butterflies and string them to be used a the party…unfortunately it was too breezy and it would have turned into an knotted mess!

This Circus party is just darling!!  D & P Celebrations had the opportunity to design and style and gorgeous party for Renee from Astonishing Cakes.

Renee needed inspiration for a cake design that she would be entering into a local cake competition. We are thrilled to report that Renee took first place with her design and it’s no wonder why, her cake is amazing!  To celebrate we gathered up our goodies and threw a Big Top Circus Party.  We had snow cones, tons of other goodies and sealed shaped cakepops.  We even had a photo booth, tickets and prizes for kids.

If you are looking for easy an inexpensive decorations for a fiesta, this is your post!  This took me less than 10 minutes….no kidding!  Go to the Dollar Tree and buy a pack of doilies! Yup just $1!

Other supplies I used and you might have them around your house already:

Cut your doilies in 4 parts:

Spray paint them red and green and leave some white

Line them up alternating colors and weave the twine or ribbon through….

VOILA!!!  You are done!!!  Cute huh?  I used it on my set up with other 5 de Mayo party ideas!

Are you looking for an inexpensive way to make some cute 5 de Mayo decorations?  This is a quick and easy idea.  I hope you like it!

I recycle almost everything. I am to the point of needing another closet to store all of my cans, jars, cardboard, etc….LOL  My husband was just asking me the other day if I am ever throwing anything in the recycled bin…ha!

Here’s what you need:

Paint your recycled cans.  Let them dry.

I folded the coffee filters in half 3 times.

I used 10 filters to make each flower. Tied them with curly ribbon.

Opened up the coffee filter and cut into some strips:

I wrapped the cans with the ribbon scraps.  I used my hot glue gun.

Lightly spray paint the flowers any color you wish.
